Please read our Store's "Terms" before being scared off by the Shipping Wizard's freight costs, and use the "Ask Seller a Question" link, if necessary. And please make sure the eCrater Home Page Heading displays the Stars-&-Stripes with the "U.S." notation in the upper-right corner so prices will be displayed in U.S. Dollars, not Australian Dollars or British Pounds.
Offering this new Heavy-Duty "Made-in-the-USA" 5-Forward-speed-plus-Neutral-&-Reverse 820-037 transaxle with full factory warranty at a 24% discount off MSRP -- almost 1/4 off! This transaxle is factory-lubricated, ready to bolt-in and run.
This in-line-shift, gear-drive, new-in-box 5-speed Model 820-037 Peerless transaxle is a bolt-in replacement for Murray front-engine riding mowers and other badged Murray-built front-engine riders using this model transaxle.
This transaxle has a 5/8"-diameter x 2-1/16" tall stepped input shaft with keyway and snap-ring groove -- it is 3/4"diameter x 15/16" tall as it comes out of the case, then reduces to 5/8"-diameter for the top 1-1/8", where the pulley fits. It has 1"-diameter axle shafts with keyways and snap-ring grooves on the ends; the overall end-to-end axle length is 30"; the axle ends extend out from the case approximately 4-3/4" on the left side and 5-3/4" on the right side. It has the 9/16"-diameter x 5-1/16"-tall, square-end shift shaft as shown.
This transaxle has two sets of industry-standard mounting holes: The close-together holes are on 13" side-to-side centers x 1-3/4" front-to-back centers; the far-apart mount holes are on 16-1/4" x 2-1/2" centers.
MOUNTING NOTE: The front-support brace holes on the lower-front corners of the transaxle are not threaded, since the mower manufacturer uses 5/16"-18 self-threading bolts to hold the front supports to these corners. If you are re-using your original bolts or equivalent OEM bolts, make sure they have clean threads when re-installing these supports. If you do not have the original-style bolts and are using standard machine-thread bolts for these front-corner supports, you will need to carefully tap these holes to match the threads of your bolts. WARNING: If you plan on pre-tapping these holes, the case material is only about 0.060" (1/16") thick at the back of these holes, so measure the hole depth and set your tap accordingly, or you will break through the case into the gear-lube area.
For the technically-minded bidder, the Forward-shift gear ratios are: 1st) 4.55:1; 2nd) 1.50:1; 3rd) 1:00:1; 4th) 0.79:1; and 5th) 0.61:1. Input pinion ratio is 2.54:1, final-drive/differential ratio is 8.02:1, and Reverse is 2.00:1. Other gear ratios are available for this transaxle -- I can change ratios or convert this to a close-ratio transaxle, if you need it.
The Part Number for a standard 820-037 is 794723. Current MSRP from Peerless on this 794723 transaxle would be $783.44 FOB Indiana; my price makes this new upgraded transaxle available to you for 76% of retail! When supplies of this transaxle are depleted, it will become obsolete and no longer available.
This transaxle is designed for use on a standard front-engine riding mower/lawn tractor. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THIS TRANSAXLE AS-IS ON A REAR-ENGINE RIDER (where the transaxle is mounted with the input pulley, brake and shift arm BEHIND the axle) or you will have 1 forward speed and 5 reverse speeds.
"WILL IT FIT..." NOTE: This 820-Series transaxle will not work on units that originally used a Peerless 600- or 910-Series transaxle unless you modify the mower and drive system. This transaxle will physically fit on units that originally had an 800-, 801-, 900-, 915, 920-, 930-, or 940-Series transaxle but will require new wheels/hubs as these other transaxles had 3/4"-diameter axles (see "WHEEL NOTE" in the next paragraph). The same is true for most of the Dana/Spicer/Foote gear-drive transaxles.
WHEEL NOTE: For those who want to upgrade their mower and use this heavy-duty transaxle on a rider that originally had 3/4" axles, please contact me -- I can supply wheels and hubs with 1" axle bores (see my "820 Deere Conversion" listing or my "4-on-4 Hubs with 1" Bore" listing).
MOWER RACING NOTE: If you are interested in converting this transaxle for mower racing, check my other Listings for ratio-improving Gearset Upgrades.
QUESTIONS? Please -- before you ask a "Will-it-fit?" question -- compare the measurements of your transaxle to the dimensions I have listed above for this transaxle. Yes, that may require safely jacking up your mower, removing a wheel, then crawling under the mower with a scale, tape measure, flashlight and notepad, as well as a rag to carefully clean off dirt and grease. In your question, also include the Model and Serial Number off the mower. Thanks!
Being new, this transaxle is covered by the Peerless 2-year Consumer Use/90-day Commercial Use/30-day Rental Use Limited Warranty within the USA and the 1-year Consumer/90-day Commercial/30-day Rental Limited Warranty outside the USA. NOTE: There is NO warranty if this transaxle is used for competition purposes! A dated receipt will be provided to validate the warranty, dated to reflect its arrival at your place so you won't lose warranty coverage for travel time. Note that the warranty covers defects in material and workmanship -- it is not a blanket guarantee against abuse and mistreatment. A copy of the Peerless Warranty will also be included with the transaxle.
No sales tax if sold outside Missouri. Sales tax of 5.225% must be charged to a Missouri Buyer.

PAYMENT Options --
PREFERRED: We prefer a money order, bank draft or certified check payment. We can also accept a business or personal check, but these require a 4-7 day clear period...except...we consider a check drawn on a Credit Union the same as a certified check.
PAYPAL: Email Seller for PayPal requirements if interested.
INTERNATIONAL: Contact Seller for details.
FEEDBACK: Our Feedback is 100%, which is good. The latest Feedback, however, is in December of 2011, which may raise questions. The reason for this is because we had to drop PayPal as an Approved Payment Method in our Store due to eCrater’s restrictions, and the only way Feedback can be left is if we show PayPal as an Approved Payment Method and the Buyer pays with PayPal through the eCrater Checkout. For this reason, there are no Feedbacks since December of 2011, even though we’ve had hundreds of satisfied customers since then. If you would like to get a referral from a recent customer near you, please let us know. We have nothing to hide, and your satisfaction is our priority.
Our philosophy..."No matter how many material possessions or awards you may acquire in your lifetime, the only thing you will ever truly own is your reputation." This is my philosophy, as well.
