If you have a late-model Sears / Craftsman garden tractor and are having problems with the Spicer 7800-1 transaxle used in some of these, this Upgrade Conversion Kit is exactly what you need!
Offering this new Heavy-Duty 6-Forward-speed-plus-Neutral-&-Reverse 820-Series Peerless transaxle Upgrade Conversion Kit to replace the now-obsolete Spicer 7800-1 transaxle on Sears /Craftsman garden tractors. It comes with full factory warranty at a 25% discount off the Sears/Spicer MSRP for just the transaxle! This transaxle is factory-lubricated, ready to bolt-in and run.
The original Spicer 7800-1 transaxle used on some late-model Sears garden tractors has a tendency to break axle shafts, even though they are supposed to be the heavy-duty 1"-diameter axles. Since Spicer exited the mower-drivetrain business in March of 2012, replacement axles may be no-longer-available. And...if you try to buy a complete 7800-1 Spicer transaxle from Sears under their 403501 Part Number, they may not be available, either, and if they are, Sears' current price is $1,179.30 for just the transaxle.
This Peerless 820-Series replacement transaxle transaxle has a 3/4"-diameter x 1-3/16" tall input shaft with keyway and snap-ring groove. It has 1"-diameter axle shafts with keyways and snap-ring grooves on the ends; the overall end-to-end axle length is approximately 29"; the axle ends extend out from the case approximately 4-5/8" on each side. It has the 1/2"-diameter x 7/8"-tall, square-end shift shaft as shown.
This transaxle has two sets of industry-standard mounting holes: The close-together holes are on 13" side-to-side centers x 1-3/4" front-to-back centers; the far-apart mount holes are on 16-1/4" x 2-1/2" centers.
MOUNTING NOTE: The front-support brace holes on the lower-front corners of the transaxle are not threaded, since the mower manufacturer uses 5/16"-18 self-threading bolts to hold the front supports to these corners. If you are re-using your original bolts or equivalent OEM bolts, make sure they have clean threads when re-installing these supports. If you do not have the original-style bolts and are using standard machine-thread bolts for these front-corner supports, you will need to carefully tap these holes to match the threads of your bolts. I can supply the original bolts. WARNING: If you plan on pre-tapping these holes, the case material is only about 0.060" (1/16") thick at the back of these holes, so measure the hole depth and set your tap accordingly, or you will break through the case into the gear-lube area.
If you need new bolts, I have the correct ones -- let me know and I will include these.
For the technically-minded bidder, the gear ratios are almost identical to the Spicer 7800 transaxle. They are: 1st) 4.55:1; 2nd) 2.33:1; 3rd) 1:50:1; 4th) 1.00:1; 5th) 0.79:1; and 6th) 0.67:1. Input pinion ratio is 2.54:1, final-drive/differential ratio is 8.02:1, and Reverse is 2.00:1.
CONVERSION COMPONENTS NOTE: There are four parts on your Spicer-equipped tractor that are different than the ones required for use with the Peerless 820 transaxle. These parts are shown in the second picture; they are the belt, transaxle input pulley, belt guide, and shift link. The belt, belt guide and pulley are included in the kit; the shift link is now obsolete, so it may be necessary to slightly modify your original shift link so the transaxle shift positions match your shift-indicator numbers. Simply change these parts when you change the transaxle, and your transaxle problems are over.
The axles on this transaxle are also about 3/8" longer than the Spicer axles. Correct spacers will be included in the kit.
My price makes this new transaxle Upgrade Conversion Kit available to you for 75% -- 3/4 -- of Sears' retail for just the transaxle!
Being new, this transaxle is covered by the Peerless 2-year Consumer Use/90-day Commercial Use/30-day Rental Use Limited Warranty within the USA and the 1-year Consumer/90-day Commercial/30-day Rental Limited Warranty outside the USA. NOTE: There is NO warranty if this transaxle is used for competition purposes! A dated receipt will be provided to validate the warranty, dated to reflect its arrival at your place so you won't lose warranty coverage for travel time. Note that the Peerless Warranty covers defects in material and workmanship -- it is not a blanket guarantee against abuse and mistreatment. A copy of the Peerless Warranty will also be included with the transaxle.

QUESTIONS? I will check this Ad regularly and try to answer all Questions promptly. Please -- before you ask a "Will-it-fit?" or "Will it work?" question -- compare the measurements of your transaxle to the dimensions I have listed above for this transaxle, and note the Model and Serial Numbers off your current transaxle. Yes, that may require safely jacking up your mower, removing a wheel, then crawling under the mower with a scale, tape measure, flashlight and notepad, as well as a rag to carefully clean off dirt and grease. In your "Question," also include the Model and Serial Number off the mower. In your Question, also include your email address so we can keep all our necessary correspondence in one document for less-confusing record-keeping. A Question without a valid, Replyable email address may not be answered! Thanks!
PAYMENT Options --
PREFERRED: We prefer a money order, bank draft or certified check payment. We can also accept a business or personal check, but these require a 4-7 day clear period...except...we consider a check drawn on a Credit Union the same as a certified check.
PAYPAL: Contact Seller.
INTERNATIONAL: Contact Seller.
FEEDBACK: Our Feedback is 100%, which is good. The latest Feedback, however, is in December of 2011, which may raise questions. The reason for this is because we had to drop PayPal as an Approved Payment Method in our Store due to eCrater’s restrictions, and the only way Feedback can be left is if we show PayPal as an Approved Payment Method and the Buyer pays with PayPal through the eCrater Checkout. For this reason, there are no Feedbacks since December of 2011, even though we’ve had hundreds of satisfied customers since then. If you would like to get a referral from a recent customer near you, please let us know. We have nothing to hide, and your satisfaction is our priority.
